Video Editing With Linux

Until last week I've been working with buggy, unfinished and almost esoteric Linux video editing software. I've been unhappy with the results and never looked forward to editing - it was not enjoyable. I've also been unable to dedicate the time needed to find something better - because as bad as the software was, it did work.

After a particularly rough session where there were more restarts than progress, I set side everything else and set out to find something stable and enjoyable to work with. I remembered seeing that Blender, a 3D editing software package, had a video editor. At first I thought this was a crazy idea. To edit video, use 3D software, but it works. Not only that, it is the best video editor I've used on Linux.

Starting Blender for the first time it was clear this was a serious piece of 3D editing software. So I closed it and looked for some simple video editing with Blender tutorials.

While all the other programs were similar to most other video editors I had used, Blender required me to research first - then everything snapped in to place.

I am now in a happy place when it comes time to do video editing.
